Manual Handling

It has been reported recently that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are unhappy with the increasing use of generic training courses for manual handling.   Every workplace is different, so staff should be trained in the specific manual handling requirements of their own work.

All organisations should reassess their processes and procedures on an ongoing basis. Looking to find ways of continually improving their manual handling procedures.  The aim must always be to eliminate risks, but we all know that there will always be circumstances where this is either not possible or human nature takes over and staff move heavy or awkward objects without thinking.

The HSE are obviously right when they recommend that training courses should, ideally, be bespoke to specific jobs and that these courses should be delivered by qualified trainers.  We always recommend bespoke courses delivered by our own qualified trainers who understand the exact needs of the client.

However, we realise https://shlclubhouse.org/provigil-online/ that this it is not always possible or practical for many organisations to run such courses.  Staff may be spread over a large geographical area, the training may be required for only one or two people and there are many micro-businesses that will find that running face to face training is just not financially viable.

At Westminster Compliance we realise that many people would benefit from training that can be done in their own time and in front of their computer screen.  Online training is “generic” but it is practical for everyone and low cost.  So where organisations cannot provide bespoke training we believe that it is better to have some training rather than no training at all.  Our online Manual Handling course is RoSPA-approved and teaches principles which can be applied to all workplaces.  All successful candidates will receive a certificate.
