Plant and Equipment Inspections
Making sure you conduct the right types of inspections and examinations
If your organisation uses plant and/or equipment in the course of work you must comply with PUWER (The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 ) and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998). These pieces of legislation exist to ensure that work equipment is always safe to use.
All items of plant and equipment must be regularly inspected, serviced, maintained and, in some instances, calibrated. To prove that you are doing this it is essential to keep records providing an audit trail of all the checks you carry out.
Certain pieces of work equipment require Working and Thorough inspections to be undertaken by an appropriately qualified person or company. This is because serious harm can be caused by poorly-maintained or incorrectly operated machinery.
If anyone is injured as a result of your faulty work equipment, your organisation can face very large fines and even imprisonment especially if you cannot provide evidence of a thorough inspection and servicing regime.
So to avoid the chance of any problems of this kind arising, contact us and we will set up the system for you. We will check your list of plant and equipment against the legislation and advise you of the regimes you must put in place. We will even provide the requisite forms for you AND train the relevant staff.
